22 Dec Spreadsheet Safe Breakfast Briefing – Dublin
We had very a very useful and informative Spreadsheet Safe Breakfast Briefing event at the Code Institute on Dublin’s St Stephens Green on Tuesday morning this week.
First of all, thank you to our friends at Code Institute who kindly made their excellent technical facility (complete with stunning views over St Stephens Green) available to us.
The Spreadsheet Safe Breakfast Briefing sought to consider spreadsheet risks from a range of perspectives: banking, government and industry.
Mr. John Hamill, Banking and Government sector, and Mr. Vincent Crowley, Former CEO of INM Plc. reflected on their own experiences and described how critical spreadsheets were often central to the decision making process, and provided a key backdrop to operations, and as such had to be considered carefully within the organisation.
We had the pleasure of welcoming a full house, with members of the audience from government, banking and industry. The inputs and discussion were enthusiastic and lively, and a number of contributors considered how spreadsheet risk was becoming more and more of an issue for internal audit teams.
There were also a range of updates about Spreadsheet Safe programme. These included news about upcoming website enhancements, a new Spreadsheet Safe Diagnostic tool (to be released early in 2017), and updates about the growing success and increasingly broad appeal of the Spreadsheet Safe training and certification programme.
All in the all the event passed off very well, thank you to all the speakers and participants, and I know we look forward to the next briefing event.
